GAME RULES

When 150 of the finest Rummy players reach the World Rummy Championship Grand Finale in Sochi, Russia they’re in for an adrenaline-fuelled game of Rummy that will decide who will be the World Rummy Champion!

So, here’s how the action will unfold in the WRC Grand Finale!

All finalists will start with an equal number of chips at the beginning of the game. Each player will have 4,800 chips to start their game.

The Grand Finale tournament will take place over 2 days as shown below :-

Each Round will consist of 2 Sessions:

Session 1: 6 Deals

Session 2: 6 Deals

Shuffling of players will take place across tables after every 6 Deals. This shuffling will be done on a random basis.

The players will be ranked based on the stack of chips remaining after each round. On the basis of the rank cut-offs, players will qualify for subsequent rounds.

Below table has the details of each round :-

For instance, Round 1 starts with 150 players, with each player having 4,800 chips. To be eligible to play the next deal - the players should have at least 800 chips.

At the end of Round 1 , the top 132 players who have at least 1,600 chips will move into Round 2. The players will be ranked on a leaderboard throughout the course of the tournament and these scores will also be visible to them.

The scores obtained and the chip stack accumulated in each round will get carried forward to the subsequent rounds. After Round 1, a lunch break of 2 hours will commence, after which the game will resume based on the rules as mentioned above.

At the end of Day 1 - there will be a maximum of 90 players who’ll be eligible to participate in Day 2. However, this number could also be lower than 90 depending on how the game unfolds.

At the end of Round 4 on Day 2 - the 6 finalists with the highest scores, will move to the Finale table.

Before the Finale, the scores & chip stack will be reset.

The following is the structure for the Finale :-

At the end of 12 deals the player with the highest chip stack will be declared the winner of World Rummy Championship, 2020!

Things to Note :-

How will players be Ranked?

• The rank of players will freeze once they get eliminated.
• Players who play a higher number of rounds will have a better rank.
• If 2 or more players get eliminated in the same round then the player with higher chips stack will be assigned a better rank.
• If 2 or more players get eliminated in the same round and have the same chip stack left then they are assigned the same ranks.

Elimination Criteria:

• With in a round: If a player doesn't have the required chip stack left to play next deal in the current round, the player will be eliminated.
  For example: During Round 1, across deals a minimum of 800 chips is required to continue playing. In a scenario where a player has less than 800 chips - he/she would not be able to play the subsequent deals.
• Across rounds: A player should have the required chip stack to play at least one deal in the next round. Also his/her rank at the end of the current round should be within the rank cut-off criteria as mentioned in Table 1.
  For example: To proceed to Round 2, 1) a player should have a minimum of 1600 chips, and 2) the rank of the player should be in the top 132. In a scenario where someone’s rank is within this range but chip stack is less than 1600 - he/she will not qualify to the next round.
• Tie-breaker: If 2 or more players have the same chip stack at the end of the round and are competing for exactly the same cutoff rank then tie-breaker will be conducted for these players to decide their ranks and decide who moves to the next round.
• The number of deals being played in a tie breaker is dependent on the number of players competing for the same. If there are 3 players for the tiebreaker position - 3 deals will be played.
